Help:How to add an event

From Wikevent

Jump to: navigation, search

This page is about adding an event. To add a venue or artist/presenter you'll need to read Wikevent:How to add a venue and Help:How to add an artist, respectively.

Adding an event

To add an event you'll need to click on the page for the respective artist or presenter, if there isn't a page consider adding a page for the presenter.

Now, scroll down to the calendar section of the page and click on the date for the event in question, this will bring up a new page, which should be preloaded with a template similar to the one below. Fill out as much information as possible, then save the page. See Wikeventeer Band 2007 1 20 as an example of what the final product should look like.

Redirecting an event

After adding an event the site will automatically cross-reference the event, meaning that the event will be linked to and displayed from the artist's page and from the page of the place where the event is being hosted.

If for some reason the site's automated cross referencing isn't what you had anticipated you can add a redirect link, which will manually cross reference the event.

As an example you'll need to move Wikeventeer Band 2007 1 20 to Wikevent:How to add an event/Club Wikevent 2007 1 20. This allows the event to display on both the presenter's page and the venue's page.

If, for some reason you created the event in the venue's namespace and need to link to the event from the presenter's page all you need, or should do, is go to the respective date for the artist/presenter then replace the preloaded template with this: #REDIRECT [[PAGENAME HERE]]. Of course, you'll need to replace "PAGENAME HERE" with the name of the real page. See this as an example.
