Mark up error

Hi Mark! There's an error in the generated mark-up for venues. There's a self-closing BR just before the tag that has a backslash rather than a forward slash. Regards! -- Spike 17:08, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

It's going on the list, first priority. -- Mark 08:28, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Sorry Mark. It's just before the span class equals geo. I forgot that the full tag would not be displayed. -- Spike 14:39, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
I'll get to it by tomorrow evening. No worries! -- Mark 19:51, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia extension

Hi Mark! My employers have just started to use MediaWiki for an internal trial. I was wondering where you got your excellent External Link to Wikipedia extension from and how to deploy it. I really miss it ;-) Thanks -- 192.93.164.23 12:48, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I wrote it. In fact the Mediawiki developers have set me up with an SVN account exactly so that I can check it in, but I just haven't gotten around to packaging it, you know, documentation and stuff. Now that I know somebody really needs it I'll add it to the list for next week. -- Mark 13:28, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Cheers Mark! <LeClerc>It is I, spike</LeClerc>. Oh. I thought I had found it as Interwiki linking at Mediawiki. -- Spike 13:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
There are two parts in fact. The interwiki linking is already there, and should just work if you configure it. I'll spend some time this weekend and look up how I did that. The thing that plops the link into the sidebar with a nice icon is my own extension and can be found here (download OtherSites.php) with all the rest of the wikevent extension stuff.
Anyhow, I'm utterly swamped at work this week, but when I get a chance I'll try to write something more useful. -- Mark 08:27, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Many thanks Mark! -- Spike 09:14, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Merry Christmas Mark!

I'd like to wish you and your family a very happy Christmas Mark! Very best wishes! -- Spike 20:48, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you sir! And a merry Christmass to you and yours as well. -- Mark 22:22, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Bot

Howdy, would it be possible for you to whip up a bot and scrape this website? It's for a club in Warsaw I just came across. Cheers. -- Andrew (Sapphire) 09:10, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Sure! I'll put it on my list right now. -- 85.2.5.75 09:17, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi Mark! While you are crafting scraper 'bots, could you do one for The Fleece please? Many thanks! -- Spike 12:12, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

SemanticCamp London

Hi Mark! Thanks for fixing the site today. I've put my name down for SemanticCamp London (London/Imperial_College_(South_Kensington_Campus)_2008_2_16 and London/Imperial_College_(South_Kensington_Campus)_2008_2_17. If I get a chance I was wondering about doing a five-min slot about Wikevent. What do you think? Regards! -- Spike 20:59, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

If you could do it that would be absolutely fantastic. I'd like to get the problems with the site fixed before then though. -- Mark 17:57, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Cheers Mark! I'll have to put some notes together during the coming week with some ideas of what to say. Seeing the main focus of the event is Semantics I guess I'll have to concentrate on that aspect of Wikevent.

BTW - I'm not sure what's going on here. The site seems to be able to only run for four/five hours before it dies. When I've encountered this in the past on my own server it was due to lack of disk space/user allocation. The webserver logs gobble up disk space until there's none left and then Apache (this is Apache isn't it?) just locks up. Best regards! -- Spike 19:33, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I think the machine is just plain overtaxed. I'm not sure which site is doing it, but I'm working on a deal to move Wikevent elsewhere. I'm also starting a project to redo the look and feel, etc. I'll keep you (and everybody/anybody else ) posted. -- Mark 11:36, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Mark! If you need any help with funding a new hosting account - please let me know! -- Spike 12:53, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Adding video capabilities to your Wiki

Hi, My name is Ido, and I work at Kaltura, the developer of the first open-source video platform. We have just launched our 1.0 version of our video extension for the MediaWiki software. Using this extension, users can add videos to any wiki page, edit these videos, revert to earlier versions of the videos, and administer and patrol the videos.

In case you find this relevant to your wiki, I'd love to keep in touch through my mail - ido.setter@kaltura.com, or my user page here.

Thx

IdoSet 13:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi mark, was just wondering if you got to see my message. Thx, IdoSet 11:47, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi IdoSet, Sorry, but my day job has pretty much totally consumed my life this last few months. I'll be able to pay more attention to Wikevent in a few weeks (I hope). -- 158.232.2.32 07:24, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Defacement

MARK! Is there nothing we/you can do about all this defacement? I'm getting tired of having to get rid of it! -- Spike 18:31, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
