Smokin' With Superman is back after 3 years to play a one-night only Reunion! Formed in 1999, and featuring rapper Mr. Parker and vocalist Joy Dragland along with horns and an ace rhythm section, SWS melts musical genres, creating a vibe that is distinctly their own. It's like a party where The Roots meet Sade, The Brand New Heavies meet Outkast, Liquid Soul meets Grant Green and Jill Scott and Common stop in for a drink....and yes, you can shake your ass to it. Dumate is Mr. Parker's current project (although he recently adopted a new alter-ego, Dudu Stinks), featuring socially-conscious rap and with a live band, kind of like hip-hop before all the ice and lame hood stories. Opening will be 20 Reasons Taken, featuring SWS bassman Brett Farrey. They do the rap/rock thing in a way that isn't wack; lead vocalist Mison Bones is that rare frontman who can actually sing and rap well, and the band's sound as a whole is polished, professional and engaging.
